And it’s called… THE COBRA!
D-Link’s new MU-MIMO modem router looks less like networking gear of old – which was designed to be pretty unobtrusive – and more like some kind of evil UFO that’s going to kidnap you and perform awkward probing experiments on your person.
But, evil looks aside, the new Cobra AC5300 MU-MIMO modem router is packed only with good things.
D-Link’s ANZ MD Graeme Reardon said in today’s announcement, “Flowing on from the heritage of our multi-award winning TAIPAN Modem Router, the COBRA adds even more bite with the latest generation MU-MIMO Wave 2 wireless support and ramps up the speeds even further to a whopping 5.3Gbps combined across its three Wi-Fi bands. It’s also been designed with the NBN in mind so it’s 100% built for that purpose if required. There’s no compromise of any kind with COBRA.”
Inside is a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, MU-MIMO Wave 2 tri-band wi-fi, Advanced AC Widebeam for better speed and range over wireless connections, and SmartConnect, which creates an optimal connection for every device on your network. It’s also UPnP ready with DLNA support.
And of course it’s NBN-ready (you know, once the NBN starts to, actually work).
The Cobra is availabe now, and retails for $749.95.
