We’re still reeling/ writing opinion pieces about Apple’s decision to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7, but it looks like it’s about to repeat the stunt – and this time on the MacBook Pro. The new rumours come not from a patent, or a leaked image, but from a telling survey sent out to MacBook Pro owners over the past few weeks. The survey was first picked up by Mac Rumors, and poses questions such as “Do you ever use the headphone port on your MacBook Pro with Retina display,” and “How do you upload photos from your digital camera or phone to your MacBook Pro with Retina display?”
It doesn’t take an analyst to work out that Apple is looking to dramatically change the design of its new MacBook Pro, and it’s using these surveys to test the waters. However, if you’re waiting for the next MacBook Pro and want a headphone jack, don’t go crazy just yet.
We’ve already seen leaked images of the new MacBook Pro’s chassis, and it seems to have a full compliment of connections – including a 3.5mm headphone jack. Therefore it’s possible Apple is thinking of removing the jack from a future update of the MacBook Pro, rather than the next one.
