Nintendo is looking to increase Switch production next year by a huge margin according to a new report.
Reportedly, the company is looking to manufacture 25 to 30 million Switch consoles for next fiscal year, which starts in April 2018.
The Switch has sold over 7 million units since launching in March, and Nintendo is expecting the console to beat Wii U’s lifetime sales in just one year. They’re expecting sales to hit 14 million units by April 2018.
The console has been a massive success for the company, beating everyone’s expectations. It’s doing so well that Nintendo’s share price recently hit a 10-year high — shares haven’t traded this high since the Wii days.
And there’s no bigger indication of its success than the number of third party games publishers and developers who are attracted to the platform.
Square Enix said that they will “put in the investment” and make games for the platform, and Take Two said that the Switch has “grown rapidly” and is an exciting platform.
