EA has confirmed that they will release the next FIFA soccer game on the Switch, saying that it will deliver a “FIFA experience custom built for Nintendo Switch” according to EA’s Patrick Söderlund.
However, that “custom experience” might actually be based on the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the game (yes, they still make those). That’s according to Eurogamer’s Tom Philips.
In practical terms, it would be easier to port an Xbox 360 / PS3 game to the Switch than to port a PS4 / Xbox One, because the Switch is more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360, meaning that the game won’t need a visual downgrade to run properly.
Of course, it’s kinda sucks that Switch gamers will be playing a FIFA that’s based on years old technology.
