Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi / Tempura arrived in Japan during the Summer, and though the latest dual release fell short of the launch sales of its predecessor, it was nevertheless another success for Level-5. The developer and publisher isn’t planning to slow down with the series, either.
Copying the strategy from Yo-kai Watch 2, a third game for this year’s ‘generation’ of titles has been confirmed – it’ll be called Yo-kai Watch: Sukiyaki and was revealed by CoroCoro Magazine. It’s out in December and will tie-in to Sushi / Tempura and the latest movie in the series; the following details are via Gematsu.
- Set off on a Great Adventure with Blasters T – An evolution of Yo-kai Watch Blasters where players will seek out hidden treasures in dungeons, take on giant boss battles, and so on.
- “God Yo-kai” Appear by Linking Versions – If you link together the three versions of Yo-kai Watch 3, four “God Yo-kai” will appear. Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi and Tempura will be updated to support this feature when Yo-kai Watch 3: Sukiyaki launches on December 15.
- A Story Linked to Yo-kai Watch Movie #3 – Befriend Koalanyan, the key Yo-kai of the December 17-due movie, Yo-kai Watch The Movie: The Flying Whale and the Grand Adventure of the Double Worlds, Meow! A graphic novel world will also appear in doing the linked quests.
It’ll be interesting to see how localisation of all these releases is tackled; we’ll likely see a selective approach. Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits & Fleshy Souls arrived recently in North America, but there’s been no suggestion (yet) that the third entry of that generation will also be localised.
In any case, we’ll see how sales go for this new release, and whether it’ll be a further slip in sales from the second gen releases.
